See How AI Search Engines Cite You
By the end of this guide, you’ll know how well your content is optimized for AI search engines and what to improve.
Prerequisites: Check your content quality to understand how content quality feeds into AI readiness.
What is GEO readiness?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) measures how likely AI systems are to quote your content. As ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other AI engines become major traffic sources, having citable content is critical.
Open Optimize > GEO Readiness (the third tab on the content quality page) to see your scores.
The overview shows:
- Page-Level GEO Average — your site-wide AI readiness score (0–100)
- Score Distribution — how many pages are Excellent, Good, Needs Work, or Poor
- GEO Element Averages — the six elements AI engines look for in your content
The six GEO elements
SEOJuice evaluates each page across six elements that make content citable:
- Direct Answer — does the page provide a clear, concise answer that AI can extract?
- FAQ Coverage — does the page include Q&A-formatted content?
- Structured Content — are headings, lists, and tables used to organize information?
- Schema Markup — is structured data (JSON-LD) present for rich AI understanding?
- Citation Density — does the content cite sources, data, and references?
- Summary Boxes — are there highlighted takeaways or summary sections?
AI Engine Readiness
Each AI engine prioritizes different elements. The AI Engine Readiness section shows how your content performs for each one:
- ChatGPT — favors Q&A format and FAQ sections
- Perplexity — favors citations and source attribution
- Google AI — favors schema markup and structured content
What to expect
GEO scores improve as you add structured content, FAQ sections, schema markup, and citations to your pages. Focus on your highest-traffic pages first — those are most likely to appear in AI-generated answers. The per-page table below the overview lets you sort by lowest GEO score to find pages that need the most work.
